Colin MacCabe

Colin MacCabe is a British writer and film producer. He is Distinguished Professor of English and Film at the University of Pittsburgh where he has taught since 1985 and a Visiting Professor of English at University College, London. In Autumn 2014 he will be a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. Between 1985 and 1998 he worked at the British Film Institute where he produced films by Derek Jarman, Isaac Julien and Terence Davies as well as the 16 part series The Century of Cinema, which included contributions from, inter alia, Oshima, Frears, Scorsese and Godard. He is currently working on four short films about John Berger with the Derek Jarman Lab. He is the author of numerous books, articles and reviews including Godard: A Portrait of the Artist at Seventy, James Joyce and the Revolution of the Word, and Diary of a Young Soul Rebel (with Isaac Julien). His most recent publications are T.S. Eliot, The Butcher Boy and a co-edited collection True to the Spirit: Film Adaptation and the Question of Fidelity. He has edited the journal Critical Quarterly since 1987.
