Who is Zamyn?
Zamyn is a collaboration of visionary business leaders and cultural advocates, who make up Zamyn’s Advisory Board, and artists, writers, psychoanalysts, and academics, who are Zamyn’s Analytical Circle.
It is led by a Board of Directors which works closely with its Advisory Board and Analytical Circle members to develop its programmes of activity.
Zamyn is an interlocutor for a wide range of individuals, corporations and organizations, the principle of collaboration is key to our work. We work with NGOs, media and arts organisations and academic institutions where appropriate - creating a model of collaboration and expertise that is innovative, mutually beneficial and carries immense social potential. The approach is practical, mobile and flexible and ensures relevant, dynamic input from the right partners.
What does Zamyn do?
Analysis and Communication
The analytical and communication programmes are carried out through a series of cultural platforms. Each platform is designed as a combination of visual, textual and aural pieces, which may include film, painting, photography, sculpture, lectures, interviews, blogs, conversations and academic papers.
Each programme draws on diverse viewpoints to focus on how:
- Peripheral, as well as emerging and central, cultures are integral to the development of the new global economy.
- Globalisation is repositioning major corporations, highlighting them as agents of cultural change and demonstrating how they are proactive benefactors as well as beneficiaries of a truly globalised society, where central, emerging and peripheral cultures are interconnected to mutual benefit.
Who does Zamyn work with?
- Business - we work with leading corporations who are key agents in the transformation of peripheral cultures. Zamyn seeks to work with ethical corporations; 'agents' within culture who go beyond Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
- Culture - we invite and commission major artists, writers, psychoanalysts and academics, whose creative work and cultural agendas as modes of communication are significant catalysts within the analytical process.
“A work of art has two aspects: the natural, physical aspect, which I think of as the conscious aspect that the artist can manipulate and shape; and then there is the very complex cultural and unconscious aspect of the artwork. This is rich and full of meanings and associations, and it is as impossible to explain fully or comprehend as the individual or the social subconscious.”
