people > circle members >   Renata Salecl   Professor Renata Salecl studied philosophy and sociology at the University of Ljubljana, where she is now Senior Researcher at the Institute of Criminology in the Faculty of Law. Professor Salecl has been visiting professor at several universities including the New School for Social Research in New York, the Cardozo School of Law in New York, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Humbolt University in Berlin. She was also a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin. In April 2000 she joined the Law Department at the London School of Economics as Centennial Professor. Her publications include Discipline as the Condition of Freedom (1991), Why do we Obey Power?
