John Forrester

John Forrester teaches the history and philosophy of science at the University of Cambridge and has written widely on the history and philosophy of psychoanalysis and modern French philosophy and psychoanalysis.

Among his books are Language and the Origins of Psychoanalysis, The Seductions of Psychoanalysis, Freud's Women, Dispatches from the Freud Wars and Truth Games. He is completing a cultural history of psychoanalysis, The Freudian Century, and is engaged in a project concerning how the human sciences (including medicine, law and psychoanalysis) organize and produce seemingly universalizable knowledge about the singular individual that is their ethical and practical fundamental datum.
