| | | | | Circles | | | The Circles are a key feature of Zamyn's infrastructure, bringing together prominent thinkers, artists, psychoanalysts, visionary business leaders and cultural stakeholders to create a space for debate and reflection that fosters horizontal relations. Circle members' collective work, to effect shifts in established perceptions of cultural transformation and its complex relation to corporations, determines the circles' evolution.
These relations, it can be said, reveal imperfect circles whose points must collaborate to maintain them. Zamyn's Circles, therefore, are far from set - they present a 'field of proximity' to those that constitute them. The Circles are intended to be evolving, leading them to forge new connections that reconfigure the community, working from the outside in, rather than choosing an artificial goal and setting about accomplishing it in an act of (mis)collaboration.
The impetus of the Circles lies in looking at collaboration from a rhizomatic perspective, where the connections or relations that allow the community to function are genuine lines of alliance. For, 'the tree is filiation, but the rhizome is alliance, uniquely alliance. The tree imposes the verb "to be", but the fabric of the rhizome is the conjunction...and, and, and.' (Deleuze)
Zamyn acknowledges the ambivalent nature of collaboration as a process and seeks to harness, through its Analytical Circle and Cultural Circle, the 'paradoxical relationships' that constitute it for their potential to effect change.
